Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Arizona Certified Legal Document Preparer (AZCLDP)?

An individual or business who is certified by the Arizona Supreme Court to prepare legal documents and provide general legal factual information, without the supervision of an attorney, for individuals or businesses who represent themselves in any legal matter.
BrightDocs Legal Prep, LLC is a Certified Legal Document Preparer.

What is the difference between an Arizona Certified Legal Document Preparer (AZCLDP) and a paralegal?

A paralegal works under the supervision of a licensed attorney. A certified legal document preparer does not require supervision by a licensed attorney. Both must avoid the unauthorized practice of law.

Can an Arizona Certified Legal Document Preparer (AZCLDP) give me legal advice or represent me in Court?

Great question! The simple answer is “no.” An AZCLDP cannot present themselves as attorneys, give you legal advice or represent you in Court. For individuals who simply need an understanding of legal processes, do not need legal counsel, and are not represented by counsel, BrightDocs Legal Prep, LLC is a great fit to meet legal needs, such as:

  • File documents with the county superior court in Arizona,
  • Record documents with the county recorder's office in Arizona, and
  • Submit documents with the Arizona Corporation Commission.

Please note: For document filing, recording, and submission services, documents must be prepared by BrightDocs Legal Prep, LLC.
