What is an Arizona Certified Legal Document Preparer?

An individual or business who is certified by the Arizona Supreme Court to prepare legal documents and provide general legal factual information, without the supervision of an attorney, for individuals or businesses who represent themselves in any legal matter.

BrightDocs Legal Prep, LLC (BrightDocs) is a Certified Legal Document Preparer.

What is the difference between an Arizona Certified Legal Document Preparer and a paralegal?

A paralegal works under the supervision of a licensed attorney. A certified legal document preparer does not require supervision by a licensed attorney. Both must avoid the unauthorized practice of law.

Can BrightDocs give me legal advice or represent me in Court?

Great question! The simple answer is “no.” BrightDocs is not an attorney, nor employed by an attorney, and cannot give you legal advice, opinions, or represent you in court.

That said, as an Arizona Certified Legal Document Preparer, BrightDocs is authorized to and is a great fit to help with—

  • Preparing legal documents
  • Providing legal information and options
  • Filing documents with the county superior court in Arizona
  • Recording documents with the county recorder's office in Arizona*
  • Submitting documents with the Arizona Corporation Commission*

How long does it take to prepare documents?

Most standard documents can be prepared within a few days to a couple weeks after your consultation. We will provide an estimated timeline during your appointment.

How much does a consultation cost?

A consultation with a certified legal document preparer is only $99 and will be collected during the scheduling process.

How does the consultation fee work?

A consultation fee applies to your first appointment. Your payment for consultation fees will be credited towards any document preparation costs, ensuring you only pay once for BrightDocs' services.

Can you meet me at my home?

Yes! We are a mobile service company. We can meet at your home, via Zoom, or other convenient location. Just let us know when scheduling your consultation, and we will make the arrangements. All signing appointments are in person.
